FEATURES: Showy flowers in a wide range of
colors, sizes, and forms. All make excellent
cut flowers. Dwarf types are good in
containers, borders, or edgings; taller types
are good for summer screens, hedges, or in
mixed shrub borders. Stake tall varieties.
BLOOM TIME: July until frost.
EXPOSURE: Light shade in hottest climates and
full sun elsewhere.
SOIL: Deep, rich, organic, well-drained soil.
AVERAGE SIZE: 1-7’ tall.
GROWTH RATE: Fast growing.
HARDINESS: Hardy to 20°F. Tubers can be
lifted and stored if winter temperatures are
consistently below 20°F.
WATER: Water regularly—1-2" per week.
FERTILIZER: Mix in ¼ cup of low nitrogen
fertilizer while planting. Repeat annually
when flower buds appear.
PRUNING: Deadhead regularly. Pinch off side
buds, leaving the center buds, for largest
flowers.
